1962–64 Buildings at Ben-Shemen
                                 Youth Village

Classroom buildings, 1962; dining hall, 1964

These notable buildings at the Ben-Shemen Youth
Village feature bare concrete and a sculptural quality.
The exterior of the dining hall is designed in the rural
style seen in other buildings planned by the firm in its
early days – but once inside the eye is drawn to the
bare concrete ceiling that functions as a prominent
constructive and decorative element. The multi-pitched
roof, as opposed to flat or single-pitched, leaves
openings in the ceiling for natural light and ventilation.
A sequence of round light fixtures hanging from the
ceiling in a repetitive rhythm further enhances the hall’s
depth and regulates its spatial organization.

The classroom building is a box structure
