Today Clalit Health Services Clinic
The firm’s work on this clinic building was a one-time
venture into planning for the healthcare system, adding
another aspect to their rich and versatile experience.
The building echoes the designs of both the Beer Sheva
City Hall and the Krauze Memorial House at Mikveh
Israel Agricultural School, which were planned at the
same time. The most discernable common features are
silicate blocks that together with rows of concrete reveal
the building’s frame and emphasize its horizontality
(in a similar way to their work on the Agriculture Bank
in Tel Aviv). Yet whereas in Beer Sheva’s City Hall
silicate blocks were used only in the inner hall, here
(as in Krauze Memorial House) the blocks appear both
inside and outside and function as the structure’s main
design element. The two units comprising the building
are connected via an internal courtyard that serves
to ventilate the inner rooms and provide natural light.
Special attention was given to the southern façade
which is in fact double, with window openings in the
internal part and permanent horizontal shading elements
on the outer part, which stands between exposed
vertical pillars.
