1994–98 Academic Library, Sapir
               Academic College, Sderot

The Academic Library building, the first planned by the
firm at Sapir Academic College in Sderot, has a covered
passageway that cuts the building into two triangular
units each rising three-stories high. On the ground floor
the units link at a small square – whereas on the top
floors they are connected by small bridges that follow
the square’s outline. The facades were designed with
shading solutions and the building faces north to avoid
direct entry of sunrays into the reading halls. As in other
libraries designed by the firm, here too the lighting
fixtures hang at a 45 degree angle in relation to the
bookshelves and the desks, thus consciously eliminating
the casting of shadows that can distract readers.
