of structuralist concepts
arriving from the Technion’s
acclaimed teachers Al
(Alfred) Mansfeld and Alfred
Neumann, felt in the firm’s
work since the mid-1960s.
The period’s global energy
crisis was no less of a
factor in the plan, as were
the geographic-climatic
conditions of the desert
campus. These forced the
architects to utilize natural
light in a sophisticated
manner, leading it into the
depths of the library space.
The monolithic
appearance of the early
libraries gradually
